Hackensack NJ, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Hackensack Police Department are investigating an apparent shooting that occurred in Hackensack on Saturday, July 15, 2023. At approximately 8:51 a.m., the Hackensack Police Department responded to a 911 call from a nursing facility. Responding officers found a deceased 73-year-old female victim and a deceased 76-year-old male victim with apparent gunshot wounds.
An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Captain Michael Antista. No other information is available at this time.
Various reports indicate that this was an apparent murder-suicide as it is possible that the 76-year-old male shot the 73-year-old female, and then shot himself.
It was also being reported that none of the facility workers heard the gunshots at the time and that it was not until a worker went to the woman’s room that the bodies were found.
