Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood High School New Players Company production of Les Misérables sold out all six (July 26th -July 30th) of their post Bastille day performances for the famous musical.The word is however there may be tickets available at the box office on the night of (may be) .
The Ridgewood High School New Players Company is dedicated to offering students the highest caliber of theatre education by providing them with a wide range of experiences during their high school years. In continuous production for eleven months out of the year, New Players exposes students to plays and musicals of all genres and styles.
Les Misérables is a French historical novel by Victor Hugo, first published in 1862, that is considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. Les Misérables has been popularized through numerous adaptations for film, television and the stage, including a musical.
Les Misérables centres on the character Jean Valjean, an ex-convict in 19th-century France. The story spans many years as it tells of Valjean’s release from prison and reformation as an industrialist while being constantly pursued by the morally strict inspector Javert. During this time he encounters a plethora of characters in Paris such as Fantine, a single mother who works as a prostitute to provide for her daughter, and Marius, a student and revolutionary who falls in love with Valjean’s adopted daughter, Cosette.
