Trenton NJ, within the NJ State Police Field Operation Section, the Strategic Investigations Unit (SIU), conducts proactive criminal investigations focused on intelligence-led policing, cross-jurisdictional offenders, and the specific needs of troop road stations. These proactive criminal investigations include controlled dangerous substance offenses, weapons offenses, burglary/theft offenses, document fraud offenses, and quality-of-life details.
Members of the SIU routinely conduct surveillance operations, prepare affidavits, and execute search warrants to further their investigative efforts. The unit sustains cooperative relationships with other federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies/entities, such as the FBI, DEA, ATF, Department of Homeland Security, US Postal, Department of Treasury, and The Heroin Task Force.
Throughout 2023, SIU collectively made 127 arrests, seized 58 firearms, and seized over $65,000 in U.S. currency.
