On Wednesday, around 4:53 p.m., Glen Rock police were called to a Prospect Street restaurant after reports of a man causing a scene. The 58-year-old Ridgewood resident reportedly insisted on being served a cup of takeout coffee, despite the restaurant not providing such an option.
When the business owner explained this, the man became argumentative, escalating the situation.
Officers arrived promptly and instructed the man to leave the premises. They warned him not to return and remained in the vicinity to ensure he complied.
The incident ended without further escalation, leaving restaurant patrons and staff to resume their evening in peace.
While coffee disputes are uncommon, this incident highlights the importance of respecting business policies and maintaining civility in public spaces.
