Hackensack NJ, On Friday, March 28, 2025, at approximately 4:45 PM, the City of Hackensack Fire Department swiftly responded to a vehicle crash and fire at 235 Prospect Avenue, a multi-story residential high-rise.
Rapid Response Prevents Major Damage
Upon arrival, firefighters found a vehicle up against the building and engulfed in flames, with fire beginning to extend toward the structure. Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Justin Derevyanik, members of the 2nd Platoon acted quickly to knock down the fire, preventing it from spreading to the occupied high-rise.
Smoke and Ventilation Challenges
The fire generated a large amount of smoke, which entered the underground parking garage and residential areas, prompting extensive searches and ventilation efforts by fire crews to ensure resident safety.
Injuries and Safety Measures
Thankfully, there was only one minor civilian injury reported. Firefighters worked diligently to secure the scene and prevent further hazards.
