Emerson NJ, a woman and her infant child narrowly avoided serious injury late Saturday afternoon after their black Mercedes SUV veered into oncoming traffic, mounted a curb, and crashed head-on into a utility pole on the 900 block of Soldier Hill Road, near the Oradell-Emerson border.
The vehicle continued spinning out of control before finally coming to rest on the front lawn of a single-family home. The incident, which occurred around 4:30 PM, triggered an emergency response from Emerson Police, Oradell Police, and Oradell Fire Department.
Emergency Crews Respond Quickly
First responders acted swiftly to assess and aid the victims. A regional EMS crew and hospital-based paramedic team arrived on the scene to treat the woman and infant. Fortunately, both individuals escaped with minor injuries and were not transported to the hospital, according to officials.
Power Outages Reported in the Area
The impact with the utility pole caused localized power outages along Soldier Hill Road. Several residents reported losing commercial electric power shortly after the crash. Utility crews were expected to be dispatched to assess and repair the damage.
Damaged Vehicle Removed by Tow Truck
The Mercedes SUV sustained heavy front-end damage and had to be removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Authorities temporarily closed part of Soldier Hill Road while emergency and utility crews worked.
