Ridgewood, NJ, the Ridgewood High School Marching Band delivered a breathtaking performance at its annual Spring Concert, held at the stunning West Side Presbyterian Church. The evening was a true celebration of musical talent, creativity, and community spirit.

???? A Night of Music to Remember
The Spring Concert was a resounding success, showcasing the dedication and artistry of RHS’s talented student musicians. From moving melodies to powerful crescendos, the audience was treated to an unforgettable night of music that filled the beautiful venue with inspiration and joy.
One of the standout moments of the evening was a dramatic and passionate performance of Symphony No. 1, The Divine Comedy. A special shoutout goes to Mr. Maphis, RHS’s Acting Director, whose creativity and vision helped bring the piece to life with emotion and flair.
???? GW Band Program Joins in the Fun
This year’s celebration was made even more special by the presence of the GW Band Program, featuring student musicians from grades 6 through 8. These future RHS performers joined the dress rehearsals during the school day, and their enthusiasm and curiosity added energy and excitement to the preparation process.
It was a joy for the high school students and faculty to welcome the GW Band — a glimpse into the bright future of Ridgewood’s music program.

CURRICULAR BANDS
The Ridgewood High School Band Program offers a wide variety of musical activities and opportunities for students at all grade and ability levels delivered through a sequential training program. The core of our program is the curricular bands – those ensembles that meet during the school day and for which students receive grades and academic credit. Each curricular band meets for three 60-minute periods over the four-day rotation of classes, just as all academic classes at RHS, and each group fulfills the Ridgewood High School arts credit requirement. Membership in a curricular ensemble is required in order for students to participate in any co-curricular music activity, including the Maroon and White Recital Series and all-county or regional bands. All members of the Band Program are encouraged to participate in Marching Band as an important part of the total Band experience. Upon graduation, students are prepared for membership in college level ensembles.
All students who wish to participate in a curricular band must complete a brief placement audition in January so that he or she may be placed in the ensemble that best fits his or her ability level, regardless of grade. Any student with previous experience in a middle school or high school band is eligible to participate in a curricular ensemble. Beginners must receive prior permission from the instructor. All of the curricular bands perform at three evening concerts during the school year.
