Glen Rock NJ, drivers faced significant delays on Route 208 South Saturday morning after a single-vehicle rollover crash occurred near Lincoln Avenue, just south of Utter Avenue. The incident, combined with sleet and rain, created hazardous driving conditions throughout the region.
Slippery Roads Lead to Rollover Crash
At approximately 8:00 AM on Saturday, April 12, a white Jeep Cherokee lost control and rolled over on Route 208 southbound, prompting an immediate emergency response. According to officials, the roadway was slick due to sleet mixing with rain, resulting in reduced traction and dangerous driving conditions.
Both occupants of the vehicle were able to self-extricate and declined medical treatment at the scene.
Emergency Response and Traffic Impact
The Glen Rock Police Department, Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department, and Hawthorne Police responded quickly to the crash site. Traffic on Route 208 was reduced to one lane just south of Utter Avenue, causing backups in both directions while emergency crews worked.
A flatbed tow truck was dispatched to upright and remove the vehicle from the scene. The roadway was later cleared without further incident.
Motorists in the area were advised to expect delays and to use caution on wet or icy roadways, especially during early spring storms that bring mixed precipitation.
