Train Collision in Fair Lawn: Driver Walks Away from Crash with NJ Transit Train

Fair Lawn NJ,  in what authorities are calling a miraculous outcome, the driver of a black Lexus SUV survived a high-impact collision with a Hoboken-bound NJ Transit train on Wednesday afternoon at the Fair Lawn Avenue railroad crossing.

Driver Self-Extricates from Crushed SUV

According to emergency responders, the vehicle was struck by the commuter train shortly after 4:00 PM. Despite the severe damage to the SUV, the driver managed to exit the vehicle on his own before emergency services arrived. He was found conscious, alert, and walking, demonstrating no immediately visible serious injuries.

The driver was transported by Bergen County EMS to a nearby hospital for a full medical evaluation.

A coordinated emergency response followed the incident. Agencies on scene included:

• Fair Lawn Fire Department

• NJ Transit Police Department

NJ Transit PD is currently handling the ongoing investigation into the crash.

The wrecked Lexus SUV was removed by a flatbed tow truck. Meanwhile, NJ Transit right-of-way maintenance crews arrived shortly after the collision to repair a damaged railroad crossing gate.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported aboard the train, and rail service was temporarily delayed during cleanup and investigation procedures.
