Ridgewood NJ, AJ and Will LoSauro weren’t on the field for Ridgewood High School’s first lacrosse practice this year — but they had a pretty historic reason. The sibling duo was skating in the New Jersey State Hockey Final at the Prudential Center, helping Ridgewood hockey reach the championship game for the first time ever.
Now, with ice in the rearview and turf beneath their feet, the LoSauro brothers are aiming for another title — this time in lacrosse.
🥍 Dual-Sport Standouts Powering Ridgewood Lacrosse Playoff Push
Ridgewood boys lacrosse enters the North Group 4 tournament as the No. 2 seed, boasting a 12-5 record and one of the strongest offensive duos in the state. Leading the charge? Brothers AJ and Will LoSauro, both talented, left-handed athletes and major contributors to Ridgewood’s postseason hopes.
🔹 AJ LoSauro: The Veteran Leader
A junior attackman, AJ is the team’s leading scorer, with 24 goals and 11 assists during the regular season. His combination of elite vision and finishing skills has already earned him a commitment to Penn State, one of the NCAA’s top programs.
“We’re grateful for every game we get to go out there together,” AJ said. “It definitely means a lot.”
🔹 Will LoSauro: The Freshman Phenomenon
Will may only be 14, but he’s already one of Ridgewood’s most dynamic players. A freshman starter — a rarity in the powerhouse program — Will has scored 17 goals and added 9 assists in his debut season. He’s the first Ridgewood rookie in over a decade to finish with double-digit points.
“He’s usually one of the first kids back on defense,” said head coach Mike Pounds. “Will hustles his butt off. He’s just used to that flow from hockey where you play both ends.”
🏒 From Hockey Rink to Lacrosse Field
This winter, AJ and Will led Ridgewood hockey to the Public North sectional title, producing at a goal-per-game pace. The brothers skated on the top forward line, guiding the Maroons to a deep playoff run before falling to Westfield in the final.
They also play together for the North Jersey Avalanche 16U club hockey team, one of the premier programs in the Northeast. Their April national tournament caused them to miss two Ridgewood lacrosse games — but their impact remains unmatched.
“Everything is competition in our house,” Will said, referencing their sports-driven family and three other siblings. Their father, Anthony, played football at Middlebury College.
Playoff Momentum & A Shot at Lacrosse Glory
Ridgewood has been a sectional finalist in 3 of the last 4 years, winning the title in 2023 en route to a Kirst Cup championship. Now, they’re gearing up to host a second-round playoff matchup against either Columbia or Hunterdon Central, with hopes of bringing another trophy home.
“The good thing is we’re on a hot streak going into the playoffs,” Will said. “It’s been easy to come in as a freshman and play with these guys.”
