Four Arrested, One at Large After Paramus Police Chase in Stolen BMW Ends in Clifton

Paramus NJ, Four individuals, including a juvenile, were arrested and one suspect remains at large following a police pursuit involving a stolen BMW M3, according to Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti.

The incident began around 11:07 p.m. on May 26, when Officer Hugo Rodriguez spotted the stolen red BMW, which had been reported missing from East Hanover, driving through residential areas in northern Paramus. As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects fled southbound on Route 17, launching a multi-jurisdictional pursuit.

🚨 High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Clifton
The stolen vehicle led police on a chase along Route 17 and the southbound Garden State Parkway. The suspects eventually exited the Parkway and abandoned the car in the Pilgrim Drive and Priscilla Street area of Clifton, where all five occupants attempted to flee on foot.

Thanks to coordinated efforts from Paramus and Clifton police, four suspects were quickly apprehended — three adults and one juvenile. A fifth individual escaped and remains at-large as of this writing.

👮 Charges Filed, Officer Injured During Arrest
The three adult suspects, aged 18 to 24, now face multiple charges including:

Receiving stolen property

Eluding police

Employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime

Resisting arrest

Aggravated assault on a police officer

The juvenile suspect, only 12 years old, has been charged with second-degree receiving stolen property. He was released to his father after being transported to his Newark residence.

During the pursuit, Sgt. Anthony Mordaga was injured when one of the suspects ran over his foot with the vehicle. He was treated and released from Valley Hospital, according to Guidetti.

🔎 Investigation Ongoing — Public Help Needed
The investigation remains active as law enforcement works to identify and locate the fifth suspect. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Paramus Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau at 201-262-3400 ext. 1413.

  2. 12-year old? Seriously! The parents should be charged criminally!

    The other 4 should be euthanized. There is no hope for rehabilitation. Just 4 bullets and get it over with…

  3. Okay, where do we begin? Why was 12 year old out at 11 pm? This occurred just after 11 pm. The adult offenders should be sent to prison and required to do hard labor. The juvenile and his parents should be required to make compensation to the victims (so should the other offenders) and undergo mandatory counseling. Finally, let’s toughen the laws in this state. That includes laws regarding juveniles.
