GLEN ROCK, NJ — A serious crash in Bergen County left two people injured after an elderly driver lost control of his vehicle while backing out of a driveway, Glen Rock police reported.
The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday on South Highwood Avenue, when an 82-year-old man accidentally struck three legally parked vehicles while reversing his Jeep. The force of the impact caused his Jeep to overturn and land on its side, temporarily trapping him inside.
Emergency responders, including Glen Rock police, firefighters, and EMS, arrived quickly to the scene. The driver was successfully extracted from the vehicle and transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
In addition, a man who was seated inside one of the parked vehicles at the time of the crash sustained injuries and was transported to Valley Hospital in Paramus. His injuries were also reported as non-life-threatening.
Two of the damaged vehicles were extensively wrecked and required towing from the crash site.
The crash remains under investigation by Glen Rock authorities.
