A Paterson-based chiropractor admitted Wednesday in state court that he helped defraud insurance companies by setting up an illegal practice while his doctor’s license was suspended.
Craig Klein, 46, of Ridgewood, pleaded guilty before state Superior Court Judge Greta Gooden Brown in Paterson to one count of theft by deception. Though the crime generally carries three to five years in prison, Klein would receive probation under a plea agreement when he’s sentenced Jan. 11.
Klein said he knowingly allowed fraudulent and misleading Personal Injury Protection insurance claims to be submitted to more than 30 automobile insurance companies between December 2010 and February 2011.
