PARAMUS, NJ — The Ridgewood Country Club has officially been selected by the United States Golf Association (USGA) to host three prestigious upcoming golf championships: the 2030 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, the 2035 U.S. Junior Amateur, and the 2042 U.S. Amateur Championship. This historic announcement places Ridgewood among an elite group of clubs that have hosted eight or more USGA championships.

“We’re excited to bring three USGA championships back to The Ridgewood Country Club,” said Mark Hill, USGA Managing Director, Championships. “This storied venue has played host to some incredible moments and champions in USGA history.”

????️ Ridgewood’s Legacy of Championship Golf

Ridgewood Country Club has a rich championship pedigree. It has already hosted five USGA events:

  • 1957 U.S. Senior Amateur (won by J. Clark Espie)

  • 1974 U.S. Amateur (won by Jerry Pate)

  • 1990 U.S. Senior Open (won by Lee Trevino)

  • 2016 U.S. Girls’ Junior (won by Eun Jeong Seong)

  • 2022 U.S. Amateur (won by Sam Bennett)

In addition to its USGA history, Ridgewood has welcomed the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust in 2008, 2010, 2014, and 2018—part of the FedExCup Playoffs. The club also hosted the prestigious Ryder Cup in 1935.

???? A Storied Course with Tillinghast Design

Located just 20 miles from New York City, The Ridgewood Country Club features three nine-hole courses—East, Center, and West—designed by legendary golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast in 1929. Since 2000, renowned architect Gil Hanse has overseen restoration projects to bring the course back to its Tillinghast roots, including tree removal, bunker recreation, and green complex restorations.

The 27-hole layout is regularly rotated for championship play, with Ridgewood’s composite championship routing including holes from all three nines.

???? Upcoming USGA Championships at Ridgewood

???? 2030 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball:
This will be Ridgewood’s debut as a host of the Four-Ball format, one of the USGA’s newest championships (first played in 2015). It features 128 sides (256 players), with eligibility requiring a Handicap Index® not exceeding 5.4. Players form teams but do not need to belong to the same club, state, or country.

???? 2035 U.S. Junior Amateur:
For the first time, Ridgewood will welcome top junior talent from around the world. The winner earns exemption into the following year’s U.S. Open Championship. Past champions include Tiger Woods (three-time winner), Jordan Spieth (two-time winner), Scottie Scheffler, and Will Zalatoris.

???? 2042 U.S. Amateur Championship:
This will mark Ridgewood’s third time hosting the U.S. Amateur, one of the USGA’s original and most prestigious events. The 312-player field competes in two rounds of stroke play before narrowing to 64 players for six rounds of match play. The final is decided in a 36-hole match, and both the winner and runner-up earn invites to the next U.S. Open.

????️ A Proud Partnership with the USGA

“The Ridgewood Country Club has shared a special relationship with the USGA for more than sixty-five years,” said Ridgewood President David Repetto. “Hosting these three championships will not only add to our club’s rich championship history, but also allow future generations of Ridgewood members to continue our legacy with the USGA.”
