SADDLE BROOK, NJ — Thieves made off with nearly $400,000 worth of Pine-Sol cleaning products after stealing a tractor-trailer and abandoning it along Interstate 80 in North Jersey, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The heist unfolded around 1 a.m. on Sunday, August 3, when a tractor-trailer and its attached container were stolen from Professional Freight Services on North Fairville Avenue in West Hanover Township, Dauphin County, PA.

Authorities said the container was loaded with Pine-Sol valued at roughly $400,000, while the trailer itself was worth about $2,000. The victims in the case were listed as Norfolk Southern (Harrisburg, PA), C.H. Robinson (Iowa), and Evans Delivery Co. Inc. (Indiana).

Truck Found — But Cargo Missing

Five days later, on Thursday, August 8, New Jersey State Police located the abandoned tractor-trailer on I-80 in Saddle Brook, but the cargo of Pine-Sol had vanished.

No arrests have been made, and investigators say the suspects remain at large. The investigation is ongoing.

A Costly, Unusual Theft

While cargo theft isn’t uncommon in the trucking industry, the scale of this heist — targeting household cleaning products — stands out. The $400K Pine-Sol theft now raises questions about whether the stolen goods will surface in underground markets or be resold illegally.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Pennsylvania State Police.
