NJ TRANSIT Launches “Jersey Journeys” Interactive Map: Explore 150+ Historic Sites by Bus, Rail & Light Rail

RIDGEWOOD,  NJ — August 26, 2025 — History buffs, students, and day-trippers now have a new way to explore the Garden State. NJ TRANSIT has officially launched its “Jersey Journeys: Every Stop Tells a Story” campaign — an interactive map that highlights more than 150 historic sites and landmarks across New Jersey, all easily accessible by bus, rail, or light rail.

From Revolutionary War battlefields and colonial homes to cultural museums and historic monuments, the map provides route details to make traveling to these destinations simple and fun. The launch took place at Liberty Hall on Kean University’s campus, a site rich with New Jersey history.

🚆 Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary Through NJ History

The initiative is part of New Jersey’s effort to celebrate the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary by spotlighting its key role in shaping American history.

  • Senator Joseph Cryan (LD-20) praised the campaign as “an innovative way for New Jerseyans and visitors alike to explore our rich heritage and better understand the role this state has played in shaping the nation.”

  • Senator Patrick Diegnan (LD-18), Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, called it “a dynamic way of highlighting the rich history New Jersey has played in shaping our nation.”

  • NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri emphasized accessibility: “This campaign highlights how rich a history New Jersey has that is only one rail, bus or light rail trip away.”

  • Kean University President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. added that the campaign will inspire future generations to “learn, explore and dream big.”
