FAIR LAWN, NJ – A driver escaped serious injury Friday morning, August 29, after a single-vehicle crash at one of Fair Lawn’s most accident-prone intersections.
According to police, the crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Route 208 southbound at Virginia Drive, where a Chevrolet SUV slammed into multiple traffic control signs before coming to a stop.
The driver, who managed to self-extricate from the heavily damaged SUV, refused medical attention at the scene. Fair Lawn Police Department and Bergen County EMS quickly responded, while a flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked Chevy.
Accident-Prone Spot in Fair Lawn
Local residents know the Route 208 and Virginia Drive intersection as a frequent trouble spot for crashes, raising ongoing safety concerns. The latest incident once again highlights the risks for both drivers and pedestrians in the area.

Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved, and no serious injuries were reported. However, the collision left behind damaged traffic signs, and police temporarily managed traffic flow during cleanup.
