New Milford, NJ — August 29, 2025 — Just before 8 p.m. on Friday night, the New Milford Fire Department was dispatched to Beech Place after receiving reports of a tree crashing into a home. Upon arrival, Unit 304 confirmed that a large section of a tree had come down, striking two houses.
Captain Smithson quickly reported that all residents were safely evacuated and no injuries were sustained.
Fire crews, including 31 Truck and 34 Engine, secured the homes by shutting off utilities, inspecting gas lines, and assessing potential safety hazards. After an extensive investigation, firefighters determined that one of the homes sustained significant structural damage when part of the tree broke through the foundation and penetrated the basement.
The New Milford building inspector and public service crews were called to the scene to evaluate the damage further and ensure the area was safe. Firefighters and utility crews remained on-site for just over an hour before clearing.

Well, that’s like in the village, when the wind blows at 40 miles an hour throughout the town we have a tremendous amount of trees that fall, can you imagine how many years behind the Sharay division is in pruning and removing trees. Do you know how many Trees fall down because they had the replace sidewalks, and to do so they need to trim the roots underneath the sidewalk. Well, when you do that, guess what the trees fall down when the wind blows. It’s like cutting off your toes, what do you think is gonna happen to you. The same thing you’re gonna fall down. Yeah I know someone wasn’t gonna put thumbs down on this one. But it’s the truth.
The person put thumbs down. You don’t know what you’re talking about. You talked to anyone that’s been in the Tree business for a long time. I’ll tell you the same thing I just did. So stop.
