Ramsey NJ, a frightening incident unfolded in Ramsey, New Jersey, early Thursday morning, October 3rd, when an NJ Transit train collided with a car at a grade crossing near the town’s station. One person, the driver of the car, was hospitalized following the crash.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:42 a.m. at the Main Street crossing. According to NJ Transit officials, the train was being moved along the Main/Bergen County Line from Hoboken toward Suffern when it struck the motor vehicle.

Details of the Collision

The good news is that there were no passengers aboard the train at the time of the collision, as it was not in active service. The train crew members were also reported as uninjured.

However, the lone occupant of the car, an adult woman, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Her specific condition and the extent of her injuries were not immediately released by officials.

Service Unaffected, Investigation Underway

Despite the serious nature of the crash, service on the busy Main/Bergen County Line was not disrupted.

The NJ Transit police have taken over the scene and are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the collision at the Ramsey grade crossing.

  1. This happens with some frequency in Ramsey for whatever reason

  2. A continuing problem there with several fatalities in the recent past. The rail line has basically blocked any vehicle or pedestrian from the intersection with mechanical gates, repainted street warnings, signage, you name it. Yet, some dope still tried to go around it. I guess you can’t fix stupid. Her own fault; glad she is safe, but she needs to be prosecuted and fined. Thank goodness Brady’s at the Station was unharmed.
