Brewing for a Cause: How This Tenafly Native’s Coffee Brand is Protecting Israel One Cup at a Time
the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Tenafly NJ, For most people, a morning cup of coffee is just a caffeine kick. For Justin Yehuda, it’s a mission. The 24-year-old Tenafly native and Cornell graduate has traded his corporate consulting career in Manhattan for a venture that is making waves from New Jersey to Jerusalem: Iron Dome Coffee.
Launched in early 2025, Iron Dome Coffee isn’t just about high-quality beans; it’s about a steadfast commitment to supporting those affected by conflict and terror.
A Business Born from Crisis
Following the tragic events of October 7, 2023, Yehuda felt a deep personal calling to act. After losing his close cousin, Benny Asulin, in the ensuing war, he struggled to return to “business as usual” in the corporate world.
He noticed a trend of “coffee with a cause”—brands supporting animal rescues or first responders—but realized there was no major brand dedicated to supporting the pro-Israel community. Yehuda took the leap, left his job, and founded Iron Dome Coffee to fill that niche.
“The name Iron Dome shows strength,” Yehuda explains. “We want to give that feeling of freedom, strength, and resilience in a coffee cup. It’s like your defense against everything in the world.”
Fueling the Frontlines: Where the Money Goes
The brand stands out not just for its bold flavors, but for its transparency. 18% of all profits are donated to organizations that provide critical support to:
-
Wounded IDF Soldiers: Helping those injured in the line of duty.
-
Victims of Terror: Assisting Israeli civilians through groups like Belev Echad and Magen David Adom.
-
U.S. Combat Veterans: Supporting organizations like the Teaneck-founded Heroes to Heroes, which helps veterans with PTSD find healing through spiritual journeys to Israel.
To date, the company has already donated thousands of dollars, directly funding veteran tours to Jerusalem and medical aid for soldiers.
From Brazil to South Jersey: The Flavor of Strength
Iron Dome Coffee sources its premium beans from Brazil, but the engineering is pure Israeli spirit. The beans are processed in a top Israeli lab for quality control, and the coffee is produced right here in a South Jersey factory.
The brand has quickly become one of the fastest-growing in the U.S., surpassing $500,000 in sales with a loyal base of over 1,000 monthly subscribers.
Popular blends include:
-
Jerusalem Sunrise: A smooth medium roast designed for a purposeful start.
-
Tel Aviv French Vanilla: A lively, creamy roast inspired by the city’s energy.
-
Sabra Spirit Dark Roast: A bold, full-bodied blend symbolizing Israeli resilience.
-
Haifa Hazelnut: A warm, nutty aroma that fills the room.
Facing Down the Hate
Success hasn’t come without its challenges. Like many pro-Israel businesses, Yehuda has faced significant online harassment and even a temporary ban from Instagram. However, he views the pushback as proof of why his brand is necessary.
“The antisemitism reminds us of why companies like Iron Dome are necessary in the first place,” Yehuda says. “We are building a community of people who stand together—one cup at a time.”
How to Support
Iron Dome Coffee is Star-K Kosher certified and available via their website or Amazon. Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or looking for a meaningful way to stand with Israel and U.S. veterans, every sip makes a difference.
