Ridgewood Storm Alert: Major Changes to Trash & Recycling Schedule for Week of Jan 26
the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, The current winter storm is shifting more than just the snow—it’s changing how the Village handles your waste collection. To keep sanitation crews safe and ensure roads stay clear for plows, the Village has announced a revised collection schedule for the week of January 26, 2026.
If you usually rely on rear-yard pickup, take note: Your routine will look different this week.
Important: No Collection on Monday
Due to the peak intensity of the storm, all services are paused at the start of the week:
-
Monday, Jan 26: All trash and recycling collection is suspended.
-
Recycling Center: The center will be closed all day Monday.
Revised Pickup Schedule for Tuesday & Wednesday
To make up for the storm delay, crews will be working a modified route. Please find your area below:
| Service Type | New Collection Date |
| West Side Trash | Tuesday, January 27 |
| Area 1 Curbside Recycling | Tuesday, January 27 |
| East Side Trash | Wednesday, January 28 |
| Area 2 Curbside Recycling | Wednesday, January 28 |
| East Side Bulk Refuse | CANCELLED (Suspended for Jan 28) |
Critical Change: Curbside Pickup Only
To ensure the safety of our sanitation workers during icy conditions, rear-yard collection is suspended for the entire week. * Action Required: Please place all trash and recycling containers at the curb (not in the street) for collection.
-
Resume Date: Rear-yard service is expected to resume on Monday, February 2.
⚠️ Quick Tip: Do not place bins in the street. This interferes with snowplows and can lead to damaged containers or missed pickups. Keep them on the edge of your driveway or sidewalk.
