The tallest building in downtown Westwood, once the stronghold of local savings and late-night deposits, has traded currency for croissants. The iconic Westwood Trust Building at 1 Westwood Ave. has officially entered its next chapter as the home of Rosangelly’s Café Restaurant & BakeHouse.

While the bank that anchored this corner for nearly a century closed its doors five years ago, the grandeur of the space remains. Today, the scent of fresh-brewed specialty coffee and artisanal paninis fills the air where tellers once stood.
A Landmark in the Making
The four-story edifice is more than just a restaurant; it’s a piece of Bergen County history. The Westwood Borough Council is scheduled to vote this month on granting the building an official historic designation.
Co-owner Sebastian Perez, who opened the doors on December 22, is leaning into the building’s soul. “It really deserves to be a historic landmark—the floor, the structure, the history this place has,” says Perez. Visitors can still walk across the original, intricately laid diamond-patterned terrazzo floors, preserved to maintain the building’s 1920s charm.
