Ridgewood NJ, The countdown is on for one of Bergen County’s favorite holiday traditions! On Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2026, the Village of Ridgewood will officially host the 49th annual Ridgewood Run.

While thousands of runners, spectators, and families gather to celebrate, the event will require significant traffic adjustments. Village employees, local race coordinators, and first responders will be out in full force to ensure a safe, fun, and smooth experience for everyone.

If you plan on driving through or around the Village on Monday morning, here is everything you need to know to navigate the detours and avoid gridlock.

🚫 Key Road Closures and Times

Numerous major roadways on the east side of Ridgewood will be entirely closed to vehicular traffic on Memorial Day.

  • Closure Window: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM

  • Primary Impacted Areas: * East Glen Avenue

    • Linwood Avenue

    • East Ridgewood Avenue

Because these heavily trafficked thoroughfares will be shut down for the race course, driving through the heart of the east side will not be possible during these hours.

🗺️ Recommended Alternate Routes

To bypass the race course seamlessly, local authorities advise motorists to avoid the East Ridgewood and Linwood Avenue corridors entirely. Instead, use these designated alternate routes to get across town:

  • Grove Street

  • Racetrack Road

🅿️ Parking Regulations and Police Assistance

The Ridgewood Police Department will have officers stationed at key intersections throughout the entire race course to direct traffic, manage detours, and assist drivers.

To keep the runners safe, temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted along the race route. Parking enforcement will be strictly monitoring the area, so please double-check all street signs before leaving your vehicle to avoid being ticketed or towed.

The Village is looking forward to another incredibly successful and safe Ridgewood Run. Best of luck to all the 2026 participants, and have a wonderful, safe Memorial Day weekend!

      1. I just pay taxes and subsidize your kids in school.
Other than the July 4 parade…no interest.
I don’t pay attention to this sort of BS .
All I hear about is no-mow-may
Despite being on the town’s email list, all i get is some friday fluff piece which isn’t worth reading.

        1. That’s very generous of you. I’m planning the kids’ Fall wardrobe now. Could you Venmo me about $3500?

          1. As usual the newbies from NY looking for a handout. Ask Mondomi

      2. Ridgewood should learn from Paramus.
They send texts out when roads are closed, including details such as accidents or construction so we know why.
They send texts out when the road is reopened.
They send texts when severe weather alerts are issued.
        Paramus does it right.
