Transforming RHS History: The Campaign to Restore Ridgewood High School’s Alumni Square Enters Final Stretch

Ridgewood NJ, With the new school year just around the corner and Homecoming fast approaching, the Ridgewood High School Alumni Association is excited to share a major update on the Alumni Square Beautification Project.

Located right outside the iconic Little Theater, Alumni Square is transforming a weathered section of campus into a vibrant, welcoming gathering space. Designed as a central hub for generations of Maroons, the renovated square will serve as a scenic venue for alumni returning during Homecoming Weekend, class reunions, and campus visits. Equally important, it provides current RHS students with a beautiful outdoor space to study, collaborate, and connect throughout the academic year.

Restoring Memories and Leaving a Lasting Legacy

For decades, the courtyard outside the Little Theater has welcomed generations of Ridgewood students. However, time has taken its toll on the area’s benches and surrounding grounds. Restoration of this meaningful space is key to preserving campus tradition while creating something worthy of the memories made here—and those yet to come.

Alumni Square also offers a unique opportunity to honor and remember the beloved classmates, teachers, and family members who have shaped the RHS community. Through commemorative recognition opportunities, alumni can leave a permanent mark on campus:

• Bluestone Memorial Pavers: Custom-engraved pavers lining the walkway.

• Dedicated Trees: Adding shade and natural beauty to the courtyard.

• Engraved Memorial Benches: Providing comfortable seating for students and visitors.

$20,000 Raised Toward $50,000 Campaign Goal

The strength of Alumni Square lies in the collective support of the Maroon community. Thanks to the remarkable generosity of alumni so far, more than $20,000 has already been raised toward the project.

The campaign is now pushing toward its ultimate goal of exceeding $50,000, which will allow for full beautification, long-term maintenance, and complete revitalization of the space. Every donation—regardless of size—plays an essential role in reaching the finish line.

Key Dates & Final Countdown

The capital campaign will remain open through the fall, leading up to a series of exciting campus events:

• Campaign Drive: Active through Homecoming Weekend (October 9–10).

• Ribbon-Cutting Celebration: Official unveiling on the morning of Saturday, October 24.
