Reader says It’s disturbing to see how much venom is directed towards anyone in authority in Ridgewood

It’s disturbing to see how much venom is directed towards anyone in authority in Ridgewood. Village Councils, past and present have shown they can screw things up as well as any governing body but this blog continues to incite knee jerk outrage and a mob mentality. The slanted spin written into the headlines by the blog administrator is anything but objective……there has to be an ulterior motive.

or through their actions do they deserve it ?

  1. They more than deserve it. Things have gotten entirely out of hand and it is not residents’ comments but the acts and statements that inspire them. This is entirely due to having a mayor who considers the job a steppingstone to greater things and clearly has no idea of what public service actually means or entails.

  2. It’s disturbing to see how little effective scrutiny is directed towards those in authority in Ridgewood. Village Councils, past and present have shown they can screw things up as well as any governing body, but this blog continues to encourage public awareness and civic responsibility. The sophisticated perspective on the part of the blog administrator that shows through in his written headlines and his choice of stories reveals him to be an independent and incisive thinker, akin to a local Matt Drudge ……there has to be a motive of improving the quality, as well as the quantity, of public discourse. Our elected leaders should appreciate the fact that some village residents, at least, are paying close attention to what they say and do and are demanding rationality, responsibility, and accountability in government.

  3. Unfortunately our elected officials have brought this on themselves – Particularly Aronsohn, Pucciarelli and Hauck. Their serial lack of vision and good judgement have made them part of the problem. Mr. Richie’s conduct, unacceptable as it was, was clouded by the Mayor and running mates’ deciding to turn it into a political opportunity for themselves. They succeeded only in making Mr. Richie a sympathetic figure with all of the Mayor’s detractors rushing in to defend him.

Then immediately after lecturing Mr. Richie and the rest of us about such things as conflicts of interest, Mrs. Hauck goes on to say that she will indeed vote on the Valley Hospital matter despite her long and very close ties with them. THEN, after all that, the Council accept free $1,000 tickets to a fundraiser thrown by a developer with a plan before the town.

What’s disturbing here is not the venom directed at our elected officials, it’s their complete lack of foresight and common sense.

  4. This is the way politics has been going for the last 10 years just kook at the idiots in DC.

  6. True, but that’s no reason that it can’t be stopped. TV reporters love this.
