>Parks and Recreation Master Plan – Draft Report Received by Village Officials But Not Yet Available For Public Review
The Ridgewood Village Council and the Board of Education (BOE) jointly authorized a study of all Village and BOE owned athletic fields and parks by Schoor DePalma, Inc., a leading engineering and consulting firm.

The project’s objective was to review all active recreation sites and conservation areas within Ridgewood. This “master plan” process also reviewed all currently offered athletic and recreation programs, including numbers of participants.

Schoor DePalma representatives have made recommendations about future needs, suggested changes in use, and potential property developments in a report that has just been received by the Village Manager’s office.

Although this “master plan” report was paid for by taxpayers, the Village Manager’s office has indicated that it will not be made available for public review until members of the Village Council and Board of Education get a chance to see it.

The fly wonders: 1) How long taxpayers will be kept waiting, 2) If it’s legal to keep the report under wraps just because our elected officials haven’t seen it yet, and 3) What changes in use and property developments were recommended.

  1. >The Fly read my mind…nothing from S-D in 3.5 months……

  2. >What exactly is your problem, Fly? You haven’t even seen the report (which has not authority to change anything) and yet, you seem so eager to criticize it. Don’t you think that it is reasonable for the people who commissioned the report to have alook at it before releasing it to the public? What is your rush? After all, the report is intended to help the Council evaluate options for a TEN YEAR PLAN. Waiting a few months for meaningful recommendations doesn’t seem to be too much to ask.

I, for one, am tired of all your BS. You are far from the public savior you envision yourself to be. Like so many people today, you are far too quick to raise the spectre legal impropriety or litigation. If you have something important to say or you identify a serious problem in town, then let’s hear it. Otherwise get a life and give the rest of us a break.

  3. >ok so if this is all BS than what are you so mad about ? Incidentally the Village Hall fiasco for better or worse right or wrong has put all actions of the Village council under suspicion so perhaps your right better to take your time we don’t want any other screw ups like the Village Hall on your watch you may run out of life rafts

  4. >Good point, 8:34 blogger. While I usually support the Super Fly… we’re reaching just a bit here. Not some grand conspiracy… more likely that the Village officials would like to digest this, at least before being immediately quizzed by the GadFly community, who seem to have nothing better to do than to stand in front of the Village Hall all day long. BTW… same crowd that complains about the Village Gov, yet doesnt seem to have the guts to apply for one of these high-paying jobs tha you’re all talking about.

Anyway… Fly… Give them a chance to read it first. Whats a few days? Wondering “if its legal” is a joke… what law or ordinance is being broken? Thats fodder for the above idiots, not the rest of us readers who possess a 3 digit IQ and appreciate your work. By the time you even filed a complaint, everyone in town would have read this for weeks.

Good that you try to stir people to action. I continue to support this on many issues. But relax a bit here… its a consultants’ report. Its not the Nixon tapes.

  5. >”My experience has generally been that the more pissed off they get, the closer we’ve come to exposing the truth (if there is any truth in government)”

  6. >Good point, 8:34 blogger. While I usually support the Super Fly… we’re reaching just a bit here. …maybe if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quaks like a duck it is a duck

  7. >8:34 blogger is Charlie Reilly….stop using CAPS, Charlie…you give yourself away.

And you dimished yourself last week when you dissed Peggy Brandes in the paper last week.

Noblisse Oblige is alive and well…

  8. >Nice. A few more gems from the Brain Trust.

Lets do a quick profile: Disgruntled at work, turned away at home as well. Quietly looking for comfort in front of Village Hall. Anyone impressed?

    No, we’re not.

  9. >A FLY YOUR A PAIN IN THE ASS .YOU SHOULD CHANGE YOUR NAME TO THE TAXMAN.
