  1. All of the anti development groups should get together they have the same goals. You can’t do one neighborhood at a time

  2. We are going to need all that open space because when Big Al the Developers Friend get done with all this building in the CBD these people will have some place to got to enjoy trees and green grass.

  3. As a west side resident I only just became aware of this. When I saw the plan and location I realized this is a terrible idea. I wouldn’t want my kids playing ball so close to route 17. Who comes up with this stuff? Is anyone thinking? Terrible plan.

  4. Excuse me west side resident I forgot you have Irene Habernickel Family Park in your back yard.

Excuse me west side resident I forgot you have Irene Habernickel Family Park in your back yard.

As a west side resident I’d gladly see the town sell the Irene Habernickel Park and build some ‘over-55’ housing. We need the ratables.

  6. A ball park is way better then a strip mall. Vets field has way too many activities going on all year long. We need more fields.

  7. I am the original west side poster and I don’t live near Habernickel. When I saw the post read ‘trees not these’ I thought it meant kids should play in a park and on a major highway. I agree with the idea the schedler property is not a good location for a ball field. After I read the entire post and the second post, I see there’s and idea for a passive park on the property, a much better idea.

  8. We do not NEED fields, some people WANT fields. Big difference.

  9. #4 I am sure that you can drive to the west side to play ball. Schedler does not need to be developed to save you a drive across town. We have enough fields. We do not need to develop every square inch of the town.

Have people forgotten that not every resident (taxpayer) “needs” or wants another field? Many of us would like to see some open space. Village Parks should be for all residents, not just parents who imagine that their kids will get a full scholarship for a sport. Start saving for college. Even if every inch is turfed most kids will go to college for academics not sports.

  10. Will Valley pay taxes on the office building across from the duck pond?

  11. Thee is an online petition to support Ridgewood baseball/softball by making Schedler a ball field.

Does the planning board care about online petitions?

Keep open space in Ridgewood. Let all ball players share the bounty that they have. Don’t get greedy.

  12. What this town has needed to do for thirty-plus years is improve the fields they have, which, at least in some cases, they have. Maintaining them is another matter.

  13. #1 “All of the anti development groups should get together they have the same goals. You can’t do one neighborhood at a time”

at first i thought this couldn’t work since each impacts different neighborhoods and are different projects, but then i realized there is one thing that connects Valley, Downtown development plans and Schedler, the connection is money. Valley has deep pockets, the developers have deep pockets and the RBSA has deep pockets. Residents are left paying big dollars to protect their quality of life. Many of our fellow Ridgewood residents are doing without just to protect home values, the biggest investment of their lives.

Maybe a new group should be formed to collectively address these over-reaching projects destined to destroy and undermine the very reasons we choose to live here.
