The Ridgewood News
More than five months have passed since Ridgewood had a permanent municipal manager, surpassing the period in 2009 when the village was last between full-time chief administrative officers.
But the search for a new manager is reaching its end, Mayor Paul Aronsohn said last week, telling The Ridgewood News that he expects the Village Council to make a decision “by early March.”
Over the past year, governing bodies throughout Bergen County have witnessed changes in their administration for reasons such as inflated salaries and poor decision-making.
In addition to Ridgewood, towns including Hackensack, Emerson and Bogota either lost or removed administrators and managers in 2013.
It was unclear this week whether any of those former administrators applied for the job in Ridgewood.

Promote from within…..Heather has earned it.
yes so true.
Heather doesn’t want it and they want someone who is beholden to them. Heather is not.
That’s not going to work. She stands up to them and tells them what right and wrong.
Let’s be clear. The Village Manager is the CEO of the Village. However, whoever is in that position is accountable to the Village Council, the board of the Village if you will, and is responsible for prosecuting the office in accordance with the budget and objectives approved and outlined by the Village Council. It is not about being “beholden”, as much as it is fulfilling a responsibility of the job. So, while intelligent and respectiful debate between the Village Manager and the Village Council may be appropriate, outright refusal to follow the objectives set forth by the Village Council would be inappropriate and sufficient cause for dismissal.
Furthermore, Heather has not earned the right to the Village Manager’s position at all and, as well liked as she is, serving as the long-time Village Clerk is hardly qualification for permanent promotion to Village Manager. We have serious fiscal issues facing the Village over the next few years. Maintaining the status quo will be a plan for fiscal disaster. I have a high regard for Heather. But, with all due respect to her, the new Village Manager needs experience and skill sets that Heather does not have.
Well lets see if this Council pick the most qualified person or will Political Cronyism become the norm.
“Refusal to follow the objectives set forth by the Village Council would be inappropriate and sufficient cause for dismissal” Yes and we all know that this council follows all the rules of the Faulkner Act and Sunshine Law. They are like a house of cards.
Yes number 5 she has earned the right. She doesn’t live in town so she did not vote for the mayor and his ticket. She hasn’t donated to the Mayor campaign fund.
Fixed that for ya number 5:
“So, even though mindless, drone-like implementation of politically-motivated objectives set forth by two out of the five members of the Village Council and their willing accomplice is really what we want in a Village Manager, the candidate we hire should at least be able to present the illusion of intelligent and respectful debate with the Village Council. We wouldn’t want to make it too easy for the residents and taxpayers of Ridgewood to realize that they’ve been had!”
Number 9 brings home a winner…..!
all bull shit, the person will be a lap dog, end of the story. he or she will do what the mayor tell,s them what to do.
Let me guess, #5 is a candidate.
Let me guess, #5 is the deputy mayor.
I’m with you #12
Member of this Council don’t read this blog. One has his own web site where he just tells you about all is great deeds. You will never see “I’m being recalled” on that web site
So true #16 and if the other guy on the Council doesn’t straight out he the next name on the RECALL list.
