Village should be accountable as well
Kira Semler

To the editor:

With regard to the article “1.8 million quarters to be paid back” (The Ridgewood News, March 21, page A1), what is most shocking and appalling about this entire caper is that the Village of Ridgewood takes no responsibility whatsoever for this theft.

Obviously, a person or persons on the staff in the financial department was equally as culpable for this missing money. What was that person or persons doing while this guy was pocketing quarters?

What are the taxpayers of the Village of Ridgewood supposed to think about this? Are they supposed to trust the financial department personnel to be doing their jobs? This is a flagrant miscarriage of professional and fiduciary duties by the staff of the financial department of the Village of Ridgewood.

  1. Mr. Mayor – Look at this letter. Look at The Record. Look at the Ridgewood News. Day after day it is increasingly apparent that many, many people think your management is disastrous. And no, it is not anonymous bloggers. It is real people, including editors of the county and village newspapers, who are saying this. You will have to stop hiding behind the excuse that “those bloggers” are the only ones concerned.

  2. #1, I think you are who he is referring to as “those bloggers” He knows who you are !

  3. And Mr. Mayor, watch out when the election commission finds out it was you who called Mike Sedon’s employer about a bogus conflict of interest if he ran for council, causing him to lose his job, just so your boy Albano could slide into place as your third lackey. Guess what–Albano is going to lose.

  4. The only thing more pitiful than the way the Council is running us into the ground is the way that some council members (such as #2) keep reading the blog so obsessively and posting on it. Why don’t you get back to business, the business of running our town properly? No other town in Bergen County has had as many negative editorials written about it in the Record…and this has been happening in the past two years. Look in the mirror, not at your ipad screen.

  5. Over on The Patch, everyone posts with some sort of name or another. So, #2 – Mr. Mayor and Mr. Deputy Mayor (maybe we should call you Palbert) do you understand that there is a wide variety of people with all sorts of opinions but all of them are calling for accountability from the Council.

  6. #5 You left one out Ms. New Village Manager.

  7. And the RPD #5, where were they when someone was stealing 1.8mn quarters from the building next door ?

  8. What a sorry bunch.
