RIDGEWOOD — Most of those who turned out to meet former Secretary of State and first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at her book signing at Bookends on Thursday afternoon left absolutely starstruck.

Some were petrified, remaining dead silent but smiling as they shook the hand of the woman who is widely expected to be a 2016 presidential candidate.

Others let their nerves get the better of them, and they’d end up blurting out strings of compliments and niceties, producing a wide and gracious smile across Clinton’s face as she continued signing books.

A few of the 1,200 from across North Jersey who turned out for Thursday’s book signing in Ridgewood left in tears, deeply inspired by the woman they’re hoping they get the chance to vote for in little more than two years’ time.

“She was so sweet,” offered Debra DiPrima of Fair Lawn, clutching a copy of Clinton’s new tome “Hard Choices.” “She’s an inspiration because she’s a strong, very poised woman. I told her that we all want her to run for president, and she just smiled at me and laughed.”

DiPrima, like the hundreds of others wearing “I’m Ready for Hillary” stickers, waited three hours to meet Clinton, breathing in the stifling, recycled air of Bookends’ basement.

  1. Dom did you make it there ? Was your BFF Paul there? Tells us Dom. Please!

  2. 1200 people who are clueless. They spend too much time on social media and watching msnbc.
Hillary Clinton has not accomplished anything in her public life for the public good.
She has only enriched herself and her posse at the expense of the American Taxpayer.
    Wake up!
    American is in serious decline.
We need a serious person as candidate for the next President.
Not a Social Organizer or Political Operative.

  3. Our mayor got his book signed. Do you think she recognized him? he always brags about how he worked in the Clinton administration. he probably passed Clinton once in the hallway, if that.

  4. I wonder if Mayor Aronsohn needed to change his underpants after that shameless display of gushing for the media. Do you know who DOESN’T think she’s so great? Ambassador Stevens, Glen Doherty, Ty Woods and Sean Smith. Also unavailable for comment were Vince Foster, and chairman of the Watergate Commission. The woman is a fraud, a phony and represents everything vile and despicable about the state of politics in this country. Congrats Mr Mayor, you idolize a woman who LIED to the families of 4 dead Americans while standing in front of their caskets.

  5. Vince Foster was unable to attend becuz Hillary had him murdered.

  6. Cat got your tongue Dom?

  7. #2 said….1200 people who are clueless.

Actually it is 1,200 people who are morons.

  8. Aronsohn, who worked in Bill Clinton’s administration, said the excitement at the book signing could be a sign of things to come.

“I got to believe that New Jersey is Hillary country,” he said. “I certainly hope that she runs for president.”

  9. Well, Ridgewood was NOT Hillary country in ’08, when the voters of the ‘wood chose Obama over her in the primary.
