Don’t forget, pick up the mess your dog makes. that’s also the law.
That’s why I don’t have a dog – cat – canary — or a parrot .
Or any friends.
Licensed?
Kiss my ass….. Just another way of taxing me….
Not going to do it….come and get me.
Weird comments.
Halloween is over guys.
Remember Curb your Dog means Poop & Pee in the street, not other peoples property, yards, lawns, and to Pick Up the Poop After Your Dog does it. Be considerate of neighbors.
Check your property survey. The approx. 8ft from the street, or the green between the sidewalk and street is Village property, not yours.
Licensing is a way to be certain your mutt has a rabies vaccine.
I’m not disagreeing with you, but I’ve never understood how this is Village property, while at the same time the homeowner is responsible for cutting that patch of grass and maintaining the sidewalk, including being financially responsible for any accidents on that sidewalk. I could be wrong, but I always thought that the homeowner owned it, and the sidewalk was a legal easement whereby the public had right of access.
Check your survey, and see if you can find the property ‘bounds’ (usually a steel pipe).
The roads(right of ways) have a specific width as well.
Just because its green its not yours, and the same for the sidewalk responsibility to clear snow etc
I’ll toss another one out there that hopefully won’t affect you since its about a $10,000 bite in the wallet to repair properly. (your sewer connection under the street)(cutting roots just make them grow back thicker, making future business for sewer cleaning services)
Common sense would dictate that your sewer pipe is ‘yours’ just to the property line. The Village ‘changed’ that (no idea how this ever passed legal muster)
You now own, and are responsible for the sewer pipe UNDER the street, up to where it attaches to the Village main.
This is the area where the pipe is usually infiltrated by roots, causing a sewer backup into your home. The Village trees, right on top of these connections cause the problems. Most of the older connections are via ceramic pipe elbows at the end of a cast iron main from the home, which crack and allow root intrusion. The Village didn’t want the expense, and somehow transferred responsibility to the homeowners.
Years ago, there was a Village employee who would knock on every door annually and pour a cup of copper sulfate into the toilet. When flushed this would help kill the roots.
Unfortunately the State said the sewer plant discharged too much copper sulfate so the practice (unfortunately) was stopped, and unfortunate homeowners get the tab to dig up the street (and to add insult to injury, must pay for the cop as well as the repair!)
