BOUND BROOK, N.J. (AP) — Two enterprising teens who were looking to make some money shoveling snow ran afoul of a New Jersey town’s ordinance and were told by police to stop.
Matt Molinari and Eric Schnepf were handing out fliers in Bound Brook during a winter storm on Monday night.
Police Chief Michael Jannone tells the Courier News of Bridgewater (https://mycj.co/1Bnuw6s ) a resident reported a suspicious person.

That home made plow hook up to that Bike was a big hit with one Council woman whose kids made some extra money.
This is absurd and I hope it gets picked up on the national news networks. Good grief! A couple of enterprising kids who appear to be restoring my faith in lazy teens and they get told to basically go home and join the rest of our country’s bubble-wrapped layabouts.
The headline’s a bit misleading but glad to see they got some jobs and made a few bucks
Maybe the police in this instance should look the other way.
The teens were also driving a TRUCK when driving was prohibited for the state of emergency.
Why would make a teen driver think that he was exempt from emergency restrictions?
There were also calls about suspicious persons fitting their descriptions walking through backyards. What were they doing in homeowner’s backyards? They should have gone door to door in their neighborhood where people know them.
Or better yet – have their parents post their business on Facebook like we do in Ridgewood.
I wish I could find a kid in the neighborhood who would shovel. Get rid of the dumb fundraisers for sports and band trips to Florida and come shovel or mow a lawn. We used to make a killing on snow storms growing up. I havnt had one kid stop by my house since I moved in 3 years ago.
Good point. Go out and shovel snow for your practice balls instead of mooching at the Stop and Shop.
There were several parents advertising snow-shoveling teens on Facebook.
