Hospital should get the message

Regarding “Ridgewood must face suit filed by hospital” (Page L-1, June 2):

Once again, the Valley Hospital debacle raises its ugly head in Ridgewood. How many times do we residents have to vote down the prospect of this expansion in our village?

All this wasted energy and money. What a shame. Leave the hospital as is and build any needed larger facilities on any of the other lands Valley owns. I don’t think many would mind going to another facility, even out of the village, to have diagnostics or testing done. The village has spoken loud and clear. Valley should give it up.

  1. “This conversation needs to move forward. The important first step is for the Planning Board to rescind its amendment [to revise Ridgewood’s master plan],” Aronsohn said, referring to a 2010 Planning Board move that adopted changes in the hospital zone to permit the expansion. Those changes, however, are not effective without an ordinance passed by the council.

  2. Although I am an opponent of the large scale that the hospital wants, they do have an excellent chance of winning in court. (Hospitals are inherently beneficial, and it will be viewed as a regional hospital..) If they don’t win in court now, they can come back in a few years to the Planning Board after the downtown is overbuilt. They will be able to show that the massive building the hospital wants, is not out of character.

  3. The only money being wasted is your tax dollars.
Now that this issue is b4 a neutral 3rd party the hospital will prevail…and rightfully so. You were stupid enough to buy a home with a very large building in the distance and now the region as a whole should suffer because YOU made a shitty real estate purchase? Fat chance.

  4. The region doesn’t suffer because Valley isn’t a mega hospital. Valley made the “regional” issue in trying to stop Pascack Valley from reopening. They said there was no need for it. Well, it opened, so Valley now there’s not a need for you.

  5. Why is a bigger Valley better for the region ? Hackensack is the regional system, Valley’s just one hospital

  6. If it does go thru as proposed it will turn out to be a “shitty real estate purchase” for everyone who lives here since the two certainties are higher taxes and lower real estate values for the whole town. Any moron can figure that out.

  7. to 11:19pm, You said it very well!
