>REMEMBER! LIGHTS ON…..9/11

>HPIM0524

On Tuesday, September 11, 2007 everyone in the USA who will be driving a motor vehicle is asked to drive with their headlights on during daylight hours. Though no explanation is needed as to why we are commemorating September 11, we hope more importantly to pay respect to the victims of that day, show our nation’s solidarity and show support for our men and women of the Armed Forces.

  1. >I have a question. Because Ridgewood is not having any kind of event commemorating the day because of its effect on the kids of those lost, is it better if Ridgewood residents DON’T put their headlights on?

I want to do the right thing for the families, but I don’t know what that is.

Anybody here know the answer straight from the source(s)?

  2. >My headlights automatically come on when I start my car as do most new models.

  3. >Since I worked across the street from ground zero and personally know over 200 people that lost there lives on that day I will be putting my lights on .I think it is a subtle way to honor people who lost their lives on that day and a reminder how dangerous the world we live in is. As the post says, “no explanation is needed” to explain why someone would be paying respect to 9/11 victims. “Lights on” is a simple unspoken way to honor those that died and those that struggled to save as many lives as possible. Had it not been for a very particular set of circumstances I might have been one of them .I am deeply sorry for the children of the victims, but I will never forget that day and I will honor those that died for the rest of my life in what ever small way I can.

  4. >PJ, that sums it up! I’ll never forget standing on Greenwich St. watching that first plane crash into the building. Putting headlights on is an easy and decent thing to do
