>I heard that trash was left scattered all over Graydon following this fund raising event. The Sanitation Department found the place a mess on Monday morning.
>”I congratulate the hard working Pool Project committee for an excellent “fund raiser”… the obstacles placed in their path were many but, they persisted … the legalities, insurance, control and count were done with professionalism. Hearsay remarks “I heard about clean up a mess” are not called for and I find insulting. Anything that had to be done for clean up was followed up efficiently. Perhaps, those naysayer commentators would have learned more about cooperation and the difficulties of initiating such a function for the Village. Support for those that work hard to make a Aquatic Complex a Safe and Healthful environment would have been more appropriate. Maybe offering a little elbow grease and dollars would have helped?
I had a great time…. thanks Pool Project Committee, keep working hard I totally support your project as do many others. “
>Dom should take his geriatric “Aquatic Complex” show on the road to, maybe …..Walla Walla, Washington. His vision is nothing more than a high class spa which would exclude many more than it would accept. The construction and upkeep of this “complex” would rival Lake Tahoe exept this concept keeps the outdoors , well, outdoors. Join the Y. It would be a lot cheaper.
>Why wasn’t the organization registered with the state before it solicited donations?
>”Unfortunately, those without knowledge or understanding of the trends in an “All purpose Modest design Aquatic Complex”, speak before they learn all the facts. Some of those details are, the loss of Graydon membership from 6,000 to less than 2,200. That was predicted by this geriatric writer many years ago. Those same members found an alternate location for their summer time fun. They spent from $2,500,000 to $3,000,000 elsewhere. Now that is a real marketing problem. The Modernization of Graydon is inevitable… So, what should that design be? I have my vision that the facilty design must include uses by the Physical and Health Educators of the School District. Funds are being spent by them during other seasons of year. In addition, increased memberships would provide more operating funds. So, the eventual design consultant, will have all the facts to make a Professional Recommendation. I will offer some suggestions on how to solve those challenges and I believe they will listen carefully. Even from this old timer that spent his past 35 years on the solution. I will be available for a debate on this subject in person and not just on these pages. So… name the time and place and wear a name tag out of courtesy like I do.”
>Um sanitation does not take care of the pool. I think parks does it, although i could be wrong.
>Good Job, Dom! Stand firm! We’re behind you!!!
>Most people go out of town to join “aquatic complexes” to blow their money on simply because they think it buys them status. It’s their version of an aquatic country club. After we modernize Graydon, are we going to modernize the HoHoKus Brook too? We’ve got plenty of concrete and steel around here already. There is nothing wrong with our pond in its rustic setting. The title “Village” should conger up visions of times gone by, which we can still hold dear in our hearts while lounging at Graydon as is.
What the concrete pool lovers don’t quite get is that there was geese poop in the pool in the morning before they got there. The staff scooped out the big pieces but we all know what happened to the little pieces – they’re still there, even though you can’t readily see them.
>and your point? That we should swim in this mess?
Can anyone tell me that it makes sense to have a pool 20% full, where the lifeguards are trained to “sweep” the bottom each time a child cannot be immediately located? No one can see beyond 4 or 5 feet deep. That where you want you kid swimming?
>I happen to watch my kids. I don’t rely on the life guards. Have you had a swim in the ocean lately? You can’t see that deep either and, fish do you-know-what in there.
