A suspicious package left near the Ridgewood train station on Friday morning was determined to be no threat by local, county and transit officials following an emergency response, police said.

The Bergen County Bomb Squad was called in to investigate a suspicious package found near the Ridgewood train station Friday morning.

Around 8 a.m., the Ridgewood Police Department received a call about a suspicious package located in front of businesses adjacent to the train station parking lot on North Broad Street, according a police press release issued later Friday morning.

Police located a “hard plastic case” and blocked off the area until they determined that the item, a portable overhead projector, was no threat. The area was reopened by police around 10 a.m.

The Bergen County Bomb Squad, New Jersey Transit police and Ridgewood Fire Department assisted Ridgewood police at the scene.
