Ridgewood Nj, just days after the Ridgewood Board Ed $111 million dollar budget vote a group of Ridgewood residents lead by Councilmen jeff Voigt is already trying to take the ability to vote on the budget away from residents .
In Voigt’s letter to the Ridgewood News he spells out the case for not voting .
The irony is he claims the $50 thousand or so is lot of money to spend on voting for an $111 million dollar budget ,which accounts for over 60% of property taxes Village of Ridgewood and of coarse there is no mentionn of the self serving law suit filed by Board of Ed members paid for with tax payer money looking to prolong their terms . Our suggestion would be the BOE members should pay back the money spent on the law suit .We are sure it will cover the budget vote .
When it rains the worms come out
The douche bag speaks to a newspaper that no one reads. How appropriate.
Funny; his letter claims that he supports the right of citizens to vote on the BOE budget. Yet in July of 2018, he voted against the Village Council resolution to move the election to April so voting on the BOE budget could take place again. What a moron this guy is.
Didn’t he vote “no” on restoring the budget vote? Am I missing something, or is he a bigger asshole than I think?
What a nut job. I hope he runs for office again. It’ll be the best comedy show ever.
Like anyone in their right mind would take any sort of advice or counsel from this man. A legend in his own mind only.
I can’t wait for May of 2020. Bye bye-o Jeff.
If this jerk off supports it, I’m against it.
and he is worried about spending money…Jeff, time to get on with your life’s work
He has no life Brian.
What is Jeff’s “life’s work????” Being a road-rage maniac? A handwriting expert? A body-shaming name-caller? Filing more police complaints than any elected official ever? Calling out obscenities in public meetings?
I don’t think any of those are paying jobs. And that is about all he is good at.
why can’t we just add the budget yes / no vote question to November ballot?
Anonymous who is asking why can’t we just add a budget yes/no vote question to November ballot – is the living proof of those who are born without a brain. Seems to be part of the team that’s advocating for a November election, again, a human species that’s born without brains.
Thanks for the non answer.
If a November vote would have more turnout and save money. Why are people against it? Please answer instead of insult, if possible.
Sad man. He just can’t stop making a complete ass out of himself. He desperately needs an intervention.
November takes away resident’s right to vote. Don’t be fooled people. When they moved the vote to November, residents no longer had a say on the school budget and the BOE began spending recklessly and maxing out taxes. We are at the highest ever, way over 2% increase, and our school rankings dropped significantly.
The figures do not support a higher turn out in November. Over the last several years of compiling figures it shows the reverse. In 2016 when it was a presidential election, the numbers were up but not significantly so. Down ballot voting is almost always .lower. The issue for many is that when the Board of Education elections were moved to November, we lost the ability to vote on the budget. When that happens, it is harder to advocate for budgetary items you are for or against. There are fewer presentations and fewer people holding seats choose to listen. We also have seen many uncontested candidates elections. Incumbents keep their seats with little to no challenge.
ZERO percent of the voters can vote on the school budget proposal in November. 100 percent can vote if the vote takes place in April.
Don’t understand “ zero percent”. In either case you can choose not to vote on Board of Ed ballot entries.
How’s that letter to the editor working out for you Jeffie Boy?
Jeff Voigt and Siobhan Winograd cannot be trusted. Ms. Winograd, along with Steve Friedes, recently became the administrators of the Facebook group Ridgewood Mom’s and Dads. Members are fed a daily dose of her one -sided campaign of misinformation intended to persuade readers to forfeit their right to vote on the biggest budget impacting local property taxes. Ms. Winograd, hardly a trustworthy advocate for transparency and fairness, has conveniently blocked many residents from seeing her posts, preventing them from participating in the discussion while other Ridgewood residents are completely blocked from the group. She has hijacked Ridgewood mom’s and dad’s to advance her political agenda. Members are unaware as Ms. Winograd spreads misinformation unchecked and unchallenged. Most recently Matt Lindenberg, one of Winograd’s partners in the scheme to take away your right to vote, announced a 60% voter participation in the previous November Board of Education elections. Not only did that not happen, it is not indicative of the compararively and significantly smaller voter participation in the Board of Eduction elections at the bottom of the ballot. Yet, Lindenberg’s grossly inaccurate statement remains unchecked on Ms. Winograd’sn own Facebook thread.
In the same thread she states, “we all need to form that opinion with a common set of facts…” Problem is Siobhan Winograd failed to include “accurate” in her statement and readers are unknowingly left with only her “facts”.
There are reasons Ms. Winograd should not be trusted with the dissemination of information about voting rights. Her actual agenda stems from the 2018 Village Council elections. Ms. Winograd, who made a large financial contribution to a particular candidates campaign, sat by that candidates side on election night as they acknowledged defeat at Village Hall. After an unprecedented tens of thousands of dollars spent by her candidate on a Ridgewood council election, she realized she had to find another way to get her desired results. She realized that when local voters have the opportunity to focus solely on local issues her candidates would likely not win. Thus her efforts began to move the nonpartisan Village Council elections to November. The Board of Education elections are just a notch in the belt of her ultimate goal.
Never trust either Voigt or Winograd.
