For international travelers, Vancouver, Rome, Dublin, and London top the list, with Vancouver leading thanks to its strong cruise season.
Travel Costs Are Down Compared to 2024
Good news for domestic travelers: AAA reports that flights, hotels, and car rentals are cheaper this year.

🚗 Car rentals are 3% less expensive
International travel, however, tells a mixed story—airfare is 8% higher, while hotels are 2% cheaper.
Gas Prices Remain Stable for Road Trips
Drivers planning road trips will also see relief at the pump. Summer gas prices have remained steady, tracking close to 2021 averages. Last Labor Day, the national average was $3.33 per gallon, and AAA expects prices to remain below that level in 2025, barring major weather disruptions along the Gulf Coast.
Car Rentals Expected to Surge Friday, Aug. 29
AAA’s rental partner Hertz reports that Orlando, Denver, Boston, Los Angeles, and Atlanta are the busiest rental car destinations. The peak rental day is expected to be Friday, August 29, as travelers gear up for the long weekend.
