Access Ridgewood ‘13 :Embracing Our Abilities, Disabilities, Special Gifts and Special Needs

Friday, October 18
Students: Ridgewood educators will organize discussions, films and/or activities in each of the Village’s elementary,
middle and high schools. (Throughout the day)
Seniors: All Ridgewood seniors will be invited to a special program “Senior Nutrition – Eating Well as You Get Older,”
(Village Hall Community Center … 10:00am – 11:00am)

Families: There will be a Pumpkin Painting family party for Ridgewood special needs children (elementary and middle
school) and their parents with pizza, drinks and ice cream. Special Needs Art instructor Marcia Matthews will lead
children in creating monster face craft bags. (Public Library Auditorium 5:00pm – 6:30pm)
Teens: All Ridgewood special needs high schoolers will be invited to a “twilight” dance party with DJ, food and drinks.
(Village Hall Community Center … 7:00pm – 9:00pm)

Saturday, October 19
Young Kids: Marlene Pillow (singer/special needs educator) and library staff will host a program for young children, “The
One and Only You!” (Public Library Auditorium … 10:30am-11:15am)
Organizations: Various organizations will be on hand in the Village Hall courtyard to share information about services
for those with disabilities. (Village Hall Courtyard … 12:00pm – 3:00pm)
Performers: Young performers of various abilities will take to the public library stage to sing, dance and play music.
(Public Library Auditorium … 1:00pm – 1:30pm)
Models: Young models of various abilities will take to the public library runway in fun, dramatic fashion.
(Public Library Auditorium … 1:30pm – 2:00pm)
Restaurants: Various Ridgewood restaurants will be on hand to provide our performers, models and everyone else with
free snacks and refreshments! (Village Hall Courtyard … 2:00pm – 3:00pm)

Sunday, October 20
Soccer Fun: Young soccer players from the Ridgewood Soccer Association Special Needs program will mix it up with
Village Police, Firefighters and other special guests. (Benjamin Franklin Middle School Small Field … 1:00pm – 2:30pm)

Clergy: There will be a special interfaith service held at the First Reformed Church, a congregation comprised primarily of
young adults with developmental disabilities. (303 Prospect Street … 7:00pm – 8:00pm)

Open to Everyone … Free to Everyone … Captioning Available …
