PARAMUS NJ, according to the Paramus Police at around 2:35 a.m. Wednesday morning , Paramus police received an alert from Upper Saddle River police that officers were in per suite of a 2017 BMW 7 series on Route 17 that had been reported stolen Monday in Deal NJ. A short time later, Paramus officer Nicholas Tanelli spotted the car, which was occupied by three men, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.The BMW headed south, onto the Garden State Parkway and then onto Route 21, Tanelli, along with Paramus Police Officer Connor Nutland, continued to pursue the vehicle, which lost control near Exit 4 in Newark and crashed, striking one of the Paramus police cars.
Two of the suspects managed to escape on foot, the Paramus officers were able to apprehend one of men,Hysheem A. Walker. Walker was taken to Paramus Police Department, where he was charged with possession of a stolen car. He was remanded to Bergen County Jail pending a bail hearing. No police injuries were reported. Paramus detectives, along with the New Jersey State Police Auto Theft Task Force, are continuing to investigate the case.
This has been a recurring theme in Bergen County lately ,with police insiders saying there is little to no deterrent for repeat offenders .
