When winter has you in its grip, there’s a choice: stay inside and escape it, or go outside and embrace it.

With temperatures stuck below freezing for the fourth consecutive day and a mix of snow and sleet coating the ground, the preference of many on Saturday was evidently a trek to the Great Indoors.

But for a hearty handful, there was enough fun to be had on snowpack to forget the bone-chilling temperatures.

“It was all her idea,” said Lucas Kovalcik of Glen Rock, as he hopped aboard a sled with his 5-year-old daughter Ella, at Citizen’s Park in Ridgewood. The little girl had packed the plastic sled with snow — “She likes to lie on top of the snow,” her father said — and they glided down the hill through a gap between two trees to the bottom.

Kovalcik was clearly in touch with his inner child as he trudged back up the hill with his daughter for another go.

  1. The next a-hole that talks about global warming should be forced to camp outside in this weather.

  2. Right on #1

  3. #1 – no one talks about global warming anymore. It’s referred to as climate change now for a good reason. Human influence is cited as a contributor to climate changes as are many other factors.

  4. Clearly, if it’s cold for a week in New Jersey, that repudiates all other data.

Please stay out of the lab, #1…unless the waste bins need to be emptied.

I guess you’re suffering from a severe case of ‘cranial rectal inversion’ #4.
Its been colder than sh&*t for months.
If you think its just a week, better get back to drinking that MSNBC koolaid to warm up.

  6. sorry bud no evedence of any human cause for climate change and no way to prove it .
Drop your political agenda and answer these questions:

was it hotter or colder when the Dinosaurs walked the earth ?
was it hotter or colder when woolly mammoth walked the earth ?
during the Roman Empire how long was the number one export from England wine?
how long did the Vikings grow grapes in Greenland ?
when Washing crossed the Delaware there was how many feet of snow on the ground ?
in the 1930’s in the US did we not have serioes of weather related issues , dust bowl , hurricanes and so on…

if you honestly answer these questions you will notice the weather or climate has changed long before all gore… and it was Bushed fault

  7. #6 – there’s a lot of evidence that humans are contributing to climate change; it’s ONE of an number of factors contributing to climate change. Together, synergistically, these factors add up to shifts in weather, and weather related, patterns and impacts. Scientists accept that climate change exists and no longer argue over what contributes to it. They are addressing what to do about the more extreme weather events (floods, droughts, etc), changes in spacial distributions of species, impacts of changes in precipitation on groundwater (more rain, less snow in the NE means more surface runoff, less groundwater infiltration, etc)., etc. There’s nothing political about climate change.

  8. Government Program ” H.A.R.P “

  9. I’d say most of the hot air contributing to climate change is exhaled from the mouth of ‘dear leader’ Barry every time he opens his bullshit box.

  10. There’s a lot of evidence that humans are “contributing” to everything.

However in many cases – including impacting changes in global climate – the human contribution is insignificant to the point of irrelevance.
