Armed Bank Robbery at Wells Fargo in Elmwood Park Sparks Multi-Agency Manhunt

Elmwood Park, NJ – Authorities are actively investigating a bank robbery that occurred Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, at the Wells Fargo Bank located at the corner of Broadway and Elizabeth Avenue in Elmwood Park.

📍 Robbery Details

According to Deputy Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 9:19 a.m. at 115 Broadway. A masked suspect armed with a handgun entered the bank, assaulted an employee, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The employee sustained minor injuries, but the suspect was gone by the time Elmwood Park Police arrived on the scene.

🚔 Manhunt Launched

A massive search operation quickly followed. Agencies involved in the pursuit included:

  • Elmwood Park Police Department

  • Bergen County Sheriff’s Office

  • Fair Lawn Police

  • Paramus Police

  • New Jersey State Police, with helicopter surveillance

Despite the extensive efforts, the suspect has not yet been located.

Investigators say the suspect was wearing a hoodie and a mask, and brandished a handgun during the robbery. After demanding cash, he fled on foot from the scene.
