Paramus NJ, a 34-year-old Maywood man was taken into custody Friday afternoon following a parking lot dispute at the ShopRite of Paramus, located at 224 East Route 4, during which a handgun was reportedly brandished, according to the Paramus Police Department.
Alleged Handgun Incident in ShopRite Parking Lot
The incident occurred on Friday, April 4, prompting an immediate police response after reports emerged of a handgun being displayed during the confrontation. The suspect allegedly fled the scene in a 2005 white Ford Mustang, which was quickly traced by authorities to an address on Wyoming Avenue in Maywood.
Suspect Located and Vehicle Impounded
Paramus Police officers tracked the suspect to the Maywood address, where he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect’s vehicle was later found parked on Lincoln Avenue nearby. The Ford Mustang was impounded and towed to Paramus Police Headquarters for further processing.
Victim Interviewed by Authorities
One victim involved in the dispute was transported to Paramus Police headquarters for an interview as part of the ongoing investigation. At this time, no injuries have been reported, and the exact circumstances surrounding the altercation remain under review.
Investigation Ongoing
The Paramus Police Department has not yet released the name of the suspect, and charges are pending as the investigation continues. Authorities have confirmed that public safety is not currently at risk.
