
MAJOR CASE: NJ Man, 21, Faces Decades in Prison After Being Charged with Sexual Assault and Endangering Minor, Including Recorded Acts.

PROSPECT PARK, NJ – Authorities have announced the arrest of a South Hackensack man following an investigation into serious sexual offenses involving a minor. Torin W. Halvorsen, 21, was taken into custody on Wednesday, October 1st, stemming from charges filed by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Prospect Park Police Department.
The charges follow an investigation into several alleged incidents in September 2024 that occurred in Prospect Park. The victim is identified as a minor between 13 and 15 years old, and one of the encounters was allegedly recorded.
Facing Severe Charges and Decades in Prison
Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Prospect Park Police Chief William Rausch detailed the extensive list of charges Halvorsen is now facing, many of which carry mandatory minimum prison sentences:
If convicted, Halvorsen would also be subject to Megan’s Law registration and Parole Supervision for Life.
Halvorsen is currently being held at the Bergen County Jail. Prosecutors have filed a motion for pretrial detention, and a hearing will be scheduled before a superior court judge.
