Ridgewood NJ, Finding a spot in downtown Ridgewood, NJ is about to get a whole lot easier for afternoon shoppers and weekend visitors.

Starting Tuesday, February 3, Ridgewood is implementing new parking rules for the Train Station Parking Lot (located to the left of the flagpole). Whether you are heading into town for dinner or spending a Saturday browsing the local boutiques, these changes mean more accessibility for everyone—with or without a permit.

New Open-Access Parking Hours

Beginning February 3, you can park in the Train Station lot during the following “Open Hours” without needing a premium permit:

Day Open Access Times (No Permit Required)
Monday – Friday 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (All Day)

This is a significant win for residents and visitors who previously avoided the lot due to strict permit restrictions.

What You Need to Know for Morning Parking

While the afternoons and Saturdays are opening up, the morning commute remains regulated to ensure permit holders have space.

  • Monday – Friday (6:00 AM to 3:00 PM): During these peak hours, you must have a Premium Parking Permit or a One-Day Parking Permit to use the lot.

  • The Flagpole Rule: Remember, these changes specifically apply to the lot located to the left of the flagpole.

Why the Change?

Ridgewood is known for its vibrant downtown dining and retail scene. By opening the train station lot starting at 3:00 PM on weekdays and providing all-day access on Saturdays, the village is making it more convenient for locals and visitors to support downtown businesses without the “parking hunt.”

Pro-Tip for Ridgewood Visitors

  1. I presume you still have to pay to park.

    1. It’s only free on Saturday nights, you know, the busiest time of the week for restaurants. Paulie takes care of his tenants and contributors.

      1. The announcement says free parking on Saturdays ends at 6 PM.

  2. Whether the train station parking lot is “to the left of the flagpole” depends on where you are standing. Embarrassing for the town to say it that way.

  3. Old town should have free parking on a Saturday night, that’s what helps the businesses. I’m not going anywhere that other people parking fuck that.

  4. They weren’t about the free parking why don’t they worry about the bathrooms being open and saw the train station. There’s no place to go to the bathroom in the village. It’s ridiculous. That’s why people go to the bathroom in the tunnel, and in doorways, it’s not gonna stop. And what the hell is going on with the other building at the the old taxi stand. The places are a shit hole. When are they gonna fix that place up?

  5. Left when looking towards the train station or left when looking away from train station?
Does the mayor own any properties in that area too?

  6. Just opened up the train station already come on. I need to use the bathroom.
