Paul Aronsohn is a breath of fresh air on the Council. He views everything with an open and highly inquisitive mind. He wants people to back up their positions with solid data. He challenges old habits and ways of doing things. Forget party affiliation. In pure terms we desparately need more people like him. We need thinkers, particularly those who have the ability to transform ideas into action. In this regard Paul is among the best there is when it comes to taking a rough idea and transforming it into a successful finished project. One does not get to share a seat on Air Force One with the most poweerful man in the free world if he is a dull laggard.
Paul is at the pinnicle of his game. He is sharp, incitefull, incredibly intelligent and his writing and communication skills are far superior to anyone who has graced the Village Council before. By his own admission he is a Democrate, but his actions and voting record tilt far more to the right than the left. Paul is and remains a strong supporter of the Business Community.He understands the need for capital formation and that only well capitalized companies will be able to undertake and complete the kind of large scale projects that are needed that are needed to transform Ridgewood into a thriving semi-urban environment that will offer an array of desirable high wage jobs along with upscale living accommodations that will befit a younger,more upwardly mobile population. This type of transformation will be extremely difficult to achieve and it is my belief Paul is one of only a few people in Ridgewood who possesses the intellecticual capacity and sheer drive to make it happen. Stand with him and watch history being made.
To meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) the district must administer tests each year to determine proficiency levels in language arts literacy and mathematics. All students in grades 3 through 8 and grade 11 are required to participate. The NJDOE also requires that proficiency in science be assessed in grades 4 and 8, and when a biology course has been completed. Most new charter schools not ready to open in September
When the Christie administration announced in January that it had approved 23 new charter schools, that number was celebrated as being the largest class of charters yet. Equally impressive, according to the administration, there would be close to 100 of the alternative schools operating this fall.
Six months later, it turns out only seven of those 23 will be ready to open their doors come September. Factor in two more schools, which had been approved in other application cycles, and that brings the total to nine new charters — for a grand total of 80 operating in the Garden State. State Red Tape Review Commission to meet Tuesday in Trenton
The state Red Tape Review Commission will meeting on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton to hear the concerns of small businesses and non-profit organizations on problems they might face in dealing with the state government.
The Christie administration has made eliminating what it sees as red tape a priority since assuming office in January, 2010. In September, Gov. Chris Christie created the commission by executive order. The panel is chaired by Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno. (Hester, New Jersey Newsroom)

As Washington stares at rising national debt and projected deficits for years to come, many states are faced with the opposite problem: whether to spend their budget surpluses and, if so, on what.
At least a dozen states ended fiscal 2011 with surpluses. Indiana reported one of the largest, with an extra $1.2 billion in its accounts. Gov. Mitch Daniels, a Republican, on Friday authorized bonus payments of up to $1,000 for state employees. An employee who “meets expectations” will get $500, those who “exceed expectations” will receive $750 and “outstanding workers” will see an extra $1,000 in their August paychecks.

We certainly do, and as usual, Steve Wynn, the CEO of casino company Wynn Resorts, delivered on his company’s quarterly conference call today. Via Seeking Alpha, here’s the crux of it:
I believe in Las Vegas. I think its best days are ahead of it. But I’m afraid to do anything in the current political environment in the United States. You watch television and see what’s going on on this debt ceiling issue. And what I consider to be a total lack of leadership from the President and nothing’s going to get fixed until the President himself steps up and wrangles both parties in Congress. But everybody is so political, so focused on holding their job for the next year that the discussion in Washington is nauseating.

Your voices are very important to us in our struggle to explain our position and uniqueness of the Ridgewood market to Ford Motor Company. As most of you know, we have a very vibrant and busy service and parts department, servicing not only individual customers but over 35 municipalities from Bergen County. We service local police departments, DPW’s, ambulance companies and even school busses. We are investing a lot of money to bring business to Ridgewood and we are probably one of the most substantial tax payer in Ridgewood. Our effort is recognized and appreciated by Ford and its Parts and Service division. We just can’t understand the opposition from sales division. How much could we “hurt” Ford Motor Company by selling more of their product and giving an option to our long time, loyal customers between Lincoln and Ford without sending them elsewhere. It’s not fair and highly prejudicial to you, the customer and unethical to us.

A scam that we see quite often time and time again is one that requests money from an unsuspecting party. This type of scam is called “phishing”. This means that the suspect sends hundreds, if not thousands, of emails in order to hopefully trick a party into sending money back. Here is a recently received e-mail that we have seen, however please remember that the email could be a variation of this, it does not have to be identical. Be very careful of emails that ask for personal information and for you to send money. Do not reply to these emails or call the phone number provided.

>Bergen County Academies Students Complete Senior Experience at The Valley Hospital
Seniors from the Bergen County Academies in Hackensack recently completed their Senior Experience at The Valley Hospital. The Senior Experiences is an internship program that provides learning opportunities beyond the school campus. The students, who are planning careers in healthcare, spent one day a week during the school year at Valley. Based on their interest, they rotated through three clinical departments under the supervision of Valley mentors. Their efforts culminated in a Senior Exhibition where their shared the results of their learning experiences.
