30% of companies say they’ll stop offering Health Insurance coverage due to Obamacare

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — Once provisions of the Affordable Care Act start to kick in during 2014, at least three of every 10 employers will probably stop offering health coverage, a survey released Monday shows.
While only 7% of employees will be forced to switch to subsidized-exchange programs, at least 30% of companies say they will “definitely or probably” stop offering employer-sponsored coverage, according to the study published in McKinsey Quarterly.
The survey of 1,300 employers says those who are keenly aware of the health-reform measure probably are more likely to consider an alternative to employer-sponsored plans, with 50% to 60% in this group expected to make a change. It also found that for some, it makes more sense to switch.

Who ever thought the saying, “It’s the economy stupid,” from James Carville in 1992 would become a staple in presidential elections 20 years later?
That expression made its way into the campaign in 2008, and according to Carville, it could be the theme of the 2012 campaign as well as President Barack Obama seeks reelection. In an appearance on Monday’s “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Network, the former Clinton adviser said that, based on the May jobs number, if the unemployment picture doesn’t improve, 2012 could be rough for the president.

(CNSNews.com) – The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) says the real cost of the federal government guaranteeing the business of failed mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is $317 billion — not the $130 billion normally claimed by the Obama administration.

N.J. reviews hospital plan near Pearl River
WESTWOOD, N.J. — New Jersey officials have begun reviewing a plan that would open a new general acute-care hospital a few miles over the Rockland County border.
State health officials will examine the proposal by Hackensack University Medical Center and its partner, Legacy Hospital Partners, a private Texas company, to spend nearly $40 million to renovate the former Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, N.J. The proposed hospital would provide 128 beds and could open by the end of next year.
Hackensack University Medical Center submitted the Certificate of Need application last week to the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
When the project was first announced in 2008, top officials from both Nyack Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern wrote letters to New Jersey officials urging them not to approve the new, for-profit hospital at the Pascack location.
