>Reader challenges Village Hall on Village Department heads pay
Fact is we pay many higher ups significantly more here than same jobs pay in nearby comparable towns as to population, etc.
There’s a database here:
https://php.app.com/
It does NOT include overtime, perks, pensions and benefits.
If you look at many jobs, you’ll see that here those folks get significantly more than in other towns. You can go to other town websites and get names of the officials there. You can get names of those here from Vill website.
It’s hard to understand how those jobs are so much more difficult here then in other nearby towns of similar population and/or size that they justify paying signif. more money.

Does Councilmen Aronsohn feel everyone is against him?
the fly has noted that Councilmen Aronsohn has pulled another arrow out of his political quiver. He is now telling anyone who will listen that the council is against him and that’s why he needs a clean sweep. On his web site Aronsohn lists his accomplish while he was a councilman but fly wonders how does this happen without at least two other councilpersons voting with him? The truth is that Councilmen Aronsohn does not get along with anyone who doesn’t agree with him or his political ideology.
Insiders continue to point to how he treated the late Councilwoman Zusy in an unconscionable fashion. His political hand out is loaded with all the buzz words yet the councilmen has never been noted for compromise on anything. Perhaps for transparency, the councilmen should let us all know who he would endorse for council beside himself for the remaining council seats?

>Government proposes first carbon limits on power plants
>Government proposes first carbon limits on power plants
By Timothy Gardner
WASHINGTON | Tue Mar 27, 2012 4:19pm EDT
(Reuters) – The Obama administration proposed on Tuesday the first rules to cut carbon dioxide emissions from new U.S. power plants, a move hotly contested by Republicans and industry in an election year.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal would effectively stop the building of most new coal-fired plants in an industry that is moving rapidly to more natural gas. But the rules will not regulate existing power plants, the source of one third of U.S. emissions, and will not apply to any plants that start construction over the next 12 months.
The watering down of the proposal led some ardent environmentalists to criticize its loopholes, but a power company that has taken steps to cut emissions praised the rules.

The man often known as the Supreme Court’s swing justice posed tough questions about the scope of the controversial health care overhaul Tuesday, suggesting he might have doubts about its validity.
Justice Anthony Kennedy did not fully tip his hand as to how he might ultimately vote in the case — leaving all sides to ruminate for the next few months until an expected summer ruling.

Home prices hit a 10-year low
By Les Christie | CNNMoney.com
The housing market started off the new year with a thud. Home prices dropped for the fifth consecutive month in January, reaching their lowest point since the end of 2002.
The average home sold in that month lost 0.8% of its value, compared with a month earlier, and prices were down 3.8% from 12 months earlier, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index of 20 major markets.
Home prices have fallen a whopping 34.4% from the peak set in July, 2006.
“Despite some positive economic signs, home prices continued to drop,” said David Blitzer, spokesman for S&P. “Eight cities — Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Las Vegas, New York, Portland, Seattle and Tampa — made new lows.”

>Garrett Statement on Second Anniversary of ObamaCare
Mar 23, 2012 Issues: Health Care
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ) issued the following statement today to mark the two year anniversary of ObamaCare being signed into law:
“Two years ago today, President Obama signed ObamaCare into law, insisting that it would bring down the skyrocketing cost of healthcare while increasing coverage for millions of Americans. As another year has passed, and the American economy has struggled to navigate through a cloud of uncertainty, the failures and costs associated with this unconstitutional law have only become clearer.
“Costs that were supposed to go down with the enactment of ObamaCare have only gone up. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) now projects that spending on healthcare is expected to reach $1.8 trillion in the next decade, and premiums will continue to rise by $2,100 per family. Instead of taking the opportunity to enact meaningful reform with market-based solutions, the Democrats rammed through this bill that brings the heavy hand of government-mandated health insurance down on every family and small business across the country.
“Furthermore, I have long maintained that the individual mandate—the foundation upon which ObamaCare stands—is unconstitutional and represents an egregious assault on our personal liberty. As the Supreme Court begins to hold oral arguments next week, I am confident the Supreme Court will follow suit with rulings in Florida and Virginia to reaffirm the Founders’ vision for America and rule ObamaCare unconstitutional.”
Garrett has long been an outspoken critic of the federal health care law, particularly the individual mandate. As Chairman of the Constitution Caucus, Garrett re-introduced H.R. 21, the Reclaiming Individual Liberty Act, on the first day of the 112th Congress, which would repeal the individual mandate portion of the federal health care law on the grounds that it is unconstitutional.

Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce should not be supporting candidates for the Village council
It is inappropriate for someone who is or was a member, employee, or officer of any group, company, or organization to sign his or her (current or former) title under a letter expressing a strictly personal opinion, especially a political one. Readers can’t be expected to know that the organization is not being officially represented. The letter had the desired effect: to make some people think the Chamber supports a specific candidate.
Our local paper ought to refuse to include such sign-offs unless it confirms that the organization supports the letter. If the letter in question had been signed only by the letter writer’s name, which he had every right to do, nobody would be upset.
I have worked for companies and written letters to the editor on various topics unrelated to my job. I did NOT place my employer’s name at the bottom (or I might appropriately have been reprimanded).
The Chamber of Commerce might consider warning its members and officers that this behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated, and should ask the newspaper to run an explanation/sort-of-retraction. What d’you think, Chamber. of Commerce.?
