Paramus NJ, In a world that often moves too fast, three young men in Paramus recently proved that looking out for your neighbor is still a top priority.
During the February 19 Borough Council meeting, Mayor Christopher DiPiazza, alongside the Borough Council and the Department of Public Works (DPW), held a special presentation to recognize three employees—Brandon, Louis, and Jonathan—for an extraordinary act of compassion that went far beyond their daily job descriptions.
An Unexpected Emergency
While out performing their routine duties, the trio encountered a local resident who had been injured. Rather than simply reporting the incident and moving on to their next task, Brandon, Louis, and Jonathan chose to stop their work entirely.
The crew stayed by the resident’s side, providing comfort and ensuring she received the medical assistance and professional care she needed before they even considered heading back to their truck.
Official Recognition from the Mayor
Mayor DiPiazza, who shared the story on social media to a wave of community support, presented the men with formal letters of recognition.
“We are so proud of all our employees, but these three young men went above and beyond for an injured resident!” the Mayor shared. “They stayed to make sure this resident received the assistance and care she needed before heading back to finish their tasks for the day.”
The Heart of Paramus Public Works
The Paramus DPW echoed the Mayor’s sentiments, highlighting that while their team is known for keeping the borough running, it’s the character of the employees that truly defines the department.

A Community That Cares
This act of kindness serves as a reminder of the vital role public servants play in the fabric of Bergen County. From clearing snow to maintaining parks, the DPW is often the “eyes and ears” of the town—and in this case, they were the helping hands a resident desperately needed.
The Borough of Paramus continues to encourage residents to share stories of local excellence. It is these moments of “Jersey Strong” spirit that keep the community connected.

Not to rain on anyone’s parade, but are we giving out awards for being a human?
It’s nice to see some kind of recognition for the Dpw, thank you mayor council.
