BLACK ICE DEVELOPMENT CAN BE EXPECTED THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
1226 AM EST THU DEC 11 2014
…ICY SPOTS THIS MORNING…
BLACK ICE DEVELOPMENT CAN BE EXPECTED THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS…ESPECIALLY ON UNTREATED SURFACES…AS SUBFREEZING TEMPERATURES INTERACT WITH RESIDUAL MOISTURE AND NEW SNOWFALL. EXTRA CAUTION SHOULD BE — USED WHEN TRAVELING.
I saw one salt spreader this mrng and that was on Route 3….nothing was done in Rwood or Paramus as far as I could tell.
By now surely the National Association of American Car Protectors has put out a memorandum condemning the use of this term.
I’m surprised at you, PJ! You of all people should know how important it is to jettison what is traditionally crisp, short, and helpfully descriptive at the first sign of community displeasure that comes out of left field (so to speak) and replace it with some sort of cobbled-together, multi-syllabic, murky verbal symbol of personal sensitivity. I suggest: Nighttime-Unapparent Planar Aggregation of Crystalline Oxygen Dihydride, or NUPACOD for short.
You’re welcome.
Al Shapton has scheduled a meeting lol
Why has Sharpton called a meeting….?
because we used the term “Black Ice” , MSNBC says its racist
That Mayor of Robert Street was pleased with the Village employees clearing his street of ice, leaves and more while doing their regular job of picking up the cans, bottles and newspapers. All that not so easy on these cold Winter days.
Perhaps, some Blog editors and comment makers might try that some time.
If we can’t say “black ice” anymore, what term should we use? Mr. Sharpton, would you care to chime in?
Tinted-American ice.
My street has been salted on the west side.
And I’ll take it a step further, which is certain to cause an uproar at MSNBC, Huffington Post, and other left leaning mouthpieces:
Statistics show that this type of is responsible for more auto accidents than any other kind of ice.
I have nothing personal against this type of ice, and have some in my neighborhood, but just stating the facts.
Dom = Condescending. Did you ever try it ( Picking Up Garbage)There was a lot of that down at the Bergen County Court House.
Water was born this way, #10, or hadn’t you considered that? What a hopeless freeze-o-phobe you are!
When subjected to the force of gravity, water must find its own level. This sometimes forces it to form shallow pools in the roadway.
If the temperature drops sufficiently, and the shallow pool of water in the roadway has not received the government-alotted quantity of salt to which it is entitled, it cannot be blamed for forming the sheet of ice you’ve so cruelly insulted.
Your personal lack of sensitivity to the harrowing plight of roadway-trapped pools of water is clearly the problem here. How would you react if you were constantly being run over by those who have won life’s lottery and can actually move from place to place so freely, and with so little regard for those less fortunate?
to # 1 yes the village had salters out last night and this am. Im seeing drivers not slowing down,
yes they salted the west side past my home at 10ish, thank’s salt crew.
All of that ice looks the same to me.
